Contributions: Abstract

The main goal of this presentation is to offer an overview of the current trends and advances in psychological and educational measurement. The solutions to the central psychometric problems within the classical test theory framework will be underlined, and some of the problems unsatisfactory solved within this framework are addressed. Especial attention will be paid to the influence of the Item Response Theory approach on the current psychometric practices. Recent advances in fields largely influenced by the Item Response Theory approach such as Differential Item Functioning, Item Banks, Computerized Adaptive Testing, or Reliability assessment, will be presented. The impact of new technologies on testing practices and item formats will be analysed as well. Finally, recent proposals on Authentic Assessment and Validity are discussed, and future perspectives on psychological and educational measurement outlined.
